1Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Today was a snowy day here in Milwaukee. This morning I was up ten minutes sooner 5:50 AM, because I knew the snow was coming. At 6:05 when I was ready my husband said, "isn't it early?" no I replied, " there is snow and we need more time!"
Sure enough, we needed that extra ten minutes, the roads were horrible!

So there went my morning! I had a doctors appointment I missed (I wasn't driving downtown in the snow) so I cancelled that. Then I wanted to head out to a printing job I had to do, hum, that had to wait. And I had lunch with a friend scheduled. So, I watched the snow from my window and decided at 11:30 it was good enough to head out for lunch! Print job would come in the afternoon, which actually worked out well, because the roads did get cleared up.

This was a new friend, someone in my bible study. This lady had seen me a few weeks ago for our Christmas party that I hosted and she saw me at my worst. I was super stressed that day and well, I felt bad about my behavior. (It wasn't very Christ like that day) So I had sent her a note that said, "Sorry I acted so poorly. You were offering to help and instead of a pleasant hostess you got a crabby one!"
She was so sweet. She accepted my apology with Grace.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
And we scheduled a lunch, today, the day it snowed 5 inches before 8am!
But, we were able to keep it and I'm so glad we did.
We got to know one another better.
Everyone has a story we decided and we shared our personal life history with each other (I'm pretty sure for both of us it was the "short" version but the highlights of the past. I mean after all, how much life history can two woman share in one hour at Noodles!! LOL)

But never has a bible passage been so true.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
My new friend and I did just that. We listened to each other's story, we encouraged one another with kind words of affirming we were listening and we tried to build one another up by just being....friends.

I'd like to think that is what a relationship with Jesus is.
Meet for coffee, maybe lunch, share stories, burdens, successes, life, and Jesus would build me up, much like my new friend did over soup and a noodle this afternoon, on a cold, snowy January day.
