Psalm 148:8 fire and hail, snow and mist,
    stormy wind fulfilling his word!

When we read just one verse out of the bible and not the entire chapter or book, its hard to understand what it might mean.
Psalm 148: 1-14 talks about Praising the Lord.

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;

 praise him in the heights!
Praise him, all his angels;
    praise him, all his hosts!

Praise him, sun and moon,
    praise him, all you shining stars!
Praise him, you highest heavens,
    and you waters above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of the Lord!
    For he commanded and they were created.
And he established them forever and ever;
    he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.[a]
Praise the Lord from the earth,
    you great sea creatures and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and mist,
    stormy wind fulfilling his word!
Mountains and all hills,
    fruit trees and all cedars!
10 Beasts and all livestock,
    creeping things and flying birds!
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples,
    princes and all rulers of the earth!
12 Young men and maidens together,
    old men and children!
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
    for his name alone is exalted;
    his majesty is above earth and heaven.
14 He has raised up a horn for his people,
    praise for all his saints,
    for the people of Israel who are near to him.
Praise the Lord!

In the chapter before He heals the brokenhearted and the chapter after is about Singing Praises to the Lord.
The Psalm's are so pretty and say some really uplifting things!
Even in the fire, hail, snow and mist we are to Praise the Lord.
Hard to do when the wind chills are calling for 60 below and for the first time in a very long long time schools are already cancelled for Monday and the Governor is considering a shut down of the state!! My home town in Michigan is calling for a foot of snow tomorrow!
The homeless are trying to be reached so they know where to go. Elderly people are already dying because they don't have enough heat, or sense to know to come inside.
Children can not go outside because within 10 minutes they can get frost bite.

In all of this, we are to Praise the Lord.

So, Thank you Lord, for giving us heat, and blankets and warmth.
For letting us have technology so that we may know how to prepare before it comes.
For food that we may eat while we huddle together in the extreme weather.
For warm drink that we may keep our insides warm and comfortable.

We pray Lord for those that have no home.
That they find shelter, heat, blankets, warmth.
That they know and hear somehow through technology that they need to find respite for the next few days so they not die on the streets!
That they find food, drink and come in from the cold, so as to find You and Praise You that they lived another day.
That they find a job, a home, a place to lay their head at night and feel comfortable and warm inside.
That we who can, help them. Give to a cause that helps those less fortunate than ourselves.
I pray Lord, for more than anything today, the homeless.
Be it by choice, or not, protect those that are out in the cold with no where to go.
The lost, the brokenhearted. They are your children, let them Praise you in the cold, snow, mist.
Let you hear their calls and protect them.

Father God, Protect us from Mother Nature on this cold cold day and nights ahead, they we find warmth and comfort both physically and spiritually.
